Hi! My Name Is Bumble Bee

I'm Available

Meet Bumble Bee!

9-Month-Old Mixed Breed | Gentle Soul | Professional Cuddler | Your Future Best Friend

Some dogs have a way of capturing your heart without even trying. Bumble Bee is one of those dogs.

Bumble Bee is the sweetest, most tender-hearted boy who has been patiently waiting for someone to see just how special he truly is. At just 9 months old, he has already experienced more uncertainty than any puppy should, yet he continues to greet the world with a gentle heart and a willingness to love.

Bumble Bee and his brother, Honey Bee, were the last two puppies from their litter to find homes. Unfortunately, they ended up at a small-town Indiana shelter that frequently struggles with overcrowding and limited adoptions. When the brothers found themselves at risk of euthanasia, ARPO stepped in and gave them a second chance.

Honey Bee has since found his forever family, but sweet Bumble Bee is still waiting.

And we just can’t understand why, because this boy is truly something special.

Bumble Bee is a perfectly medium-sized bundle of sweetness with a little bit of everything mixed in! We suspect he may have some Labrador, Hound, Boxer, and perhaps Collie or Australian Shepherd in his family tree. Whatever his breed combination may be, one thing is certain: Bumble Bee is as sweet as honey!

He’s the quiet, shy puppy who might not be the first to rush up and demand your attention. He’s the one who hangs back, quietly observing and hoping someone will give him a chance. But behind that initial shyness is an incredibly loving, loyal, intelligent, and affectionate companion just waiting to blossom.

The beautiful thing about Bumble Bee is that he doesn’t need someone to be fearless for him. He just needs someone who will show him that he doesn’t have to be afraid.

Bumble Bee can be skittish when encountering new people, places, or experiences. However, with a little encouragement, patience, and guidance, this brave little soul is willing to work through his fears. Watching his confidence grow as he learns to trust is one of the most rewarding things about him.

And once you’ve earned that trust? You’ve got a best friend for life.

Bumble Bee is the kind of dog who wants to be wherever you are. He’ll happily follow you from room to room, walk beautifully beside you on a leash, and curl up next to you on the couch for some much-deserved cuddles. He doesn’t need to be the center of attention or the life of the party. He just wants to be part of someone’s life.

A Little More About Bumble Bee:

  • People: Bumble Bee is initially shy and appreciates patient, gentle introductions. Once he feels safe, his affectionate and devoted personality shines through. He’s incredibly loyal to the people he trusts and loves being close to them.
  • Dogs: Bumble Bee does wonderfully with other dogs when given proper, slow introductions. He loves having canine playmates and often gains confidence by watching and learning from them. He has also shown a wonderful ability to recognize when older dogs aren’t interested in playing and adjust his behavior accordingly. While he would enjoy a friendly canine companion, he could also thrive as an only dog with a family who helps build his confidence.
  • Cats: Bumble Bee is very curious about cats, but he has done well around his foster family’s resident cat and has been respectful of her boundaries.
  • Children: Bumble Bee has done great around children! However, because he can be shy and easily startled by unfamiliar situations, slow, respectful introductions are strongly encouraged. He does best when his humans advocate for him and allow him to approach new experiences at his own pace.
  • House Training: Bumble Bee has excellent house-training manners! He’s already mastered one of the biggest challenges of puppyhood.
  • Crate Training: This boy is a superstar in his crate! He comfortably stays crated overnight and while his foster family is away. He has not displayed signs of separation anxiety and settles nicely when it’s time to rest.
  • Training: Bumble Bee is incredibly intelligent, eager to please, and loves learning! He already knows sit, down, and stay, and he’s ready to continue building his skills with his forever family.
  • Leash Manners: Bumble Bee is a dream on a leash! He walks beautifully right beside his person and naturally likes to stay close rather than wandering away.
  • Car Rides: Have somewhere to go? Bumble Bee would love to tag along! He’s a fantastic passenger and enjoys going for rides.
  • Puppy Personality: While Bumble Bee has wonderful manners for his age, he’s still a puppy! He’s working on his spatial awareness and occasionally forgets where his body ends and the world begins. He’s also a talented dog-toy destroyer, so durable toys, supervision, and a puppy-proofed home are important. Thankfully, his chewing adventures have been limited to his toys, and his excellent crate manners make keeping him safe when unsupervised easy!

What Would Bumble Bee’s Perfect Home Look Like?

Bumble Bee doesn’t need a perfect family. He just needs a family willing to love him for exactly who he is.

He would thrive with patient, kindhearted people who understand that confidence doesn’t happen overnight. People who will celebrate his little victories, help him navigate unfamiliar experiences, and never make him feel like he has to be braver than he’s ready to be.

He would love a home where he can enjoy walks, playtime, car rides, and plenty of couch cuddles. A friendly, confident dog could be a wonderful companion and role model, but Bumble Bee would be equally happy soaking up all the love as an only dog.

More than anything, Bumble Bee needs someone who will look beyond his initial shyness and recognize the extraordinary dog underneath.

Because Bumble Bee isn’t the puppy who will necessarily run straight into a stranger’s arms. He’s the puppy who will quietly work his way into your heart, little by little, until one day you realize you can’t imagine life without him.

He’s the dog who will look to you for reassurance when something feels scary. The dog who will walk faithfully beside you, curl up against you on the couch, and trust you to help him navigate this big world.

And in return, he’ll give you something incredibly special: his whole heart.

Bumble Bee Has Waited Long Enough.

His brother has found his happily ever after. Now it’s Bumble Bee’s turn.

Can you give him the hive he’s been looking for?
