I've found my furever family!

Hi! My Name Is Fern Arable

We're happy to tell you that Fern Arable has a new furever home.
Please visit our Available Dogs Page to see the pups currently available.

Meet Fern Arable, named after the young protagonist from E.B. White’s novel, Charlotte’s Web.

Fern, her brother Looks Like Rain (also being fostered through ARPO), and their other 4 siblings were surrendered to a southern Indiana shelter when their owners said their mom had “dried up.” The puppies were being fed cow’s milk and table scraps and spent three weeks at the shelter before making their way to ARPO.

In her foster home, Fern has already outgrown her initial puppy timidity and is a confident, friendly puppy who loves taking walks, meeting other neighbors and pups, hunting ants on the sidewalk, chasing tennis balls and even attending Jazz on the Patio at the local neighborhood coffee shop! She loves a good squeaky toy and - don’t tell Wilbur - chewing on pigs’ ears.

She lives with two resident adult kitties and is curious but gentle with them. She is mostly potty trained, whining to be let out when she needs to go. She is also crate trained and an epic napper in between long walks or visits to the back yard.

If you’re looking for an affectionate, gentle companion to be your forever best friend, meet Fern Arable!
