I'm not quite ready to go to my new home.

Sammie is an absolutely adorable beagle mix, approximately 3 years old, with a heart as big as her floppy ears. She is incredibly friendly and truly has never met a stranger—everyone she meets is instantly her friend.

During a routine veterinary exam prior to a planned spay surgery, Sammie was found to have a severe heart murmur. Because of this, surgery could not safely move forward until more information is known about her heart health. Sammie is scheduled for a cardiology consult at Purdue University in West Lafayette on December 22nd, where she will receive a full exam and an echocardiogram. This appointment will help us better understand her condition, how best to care for her, and what her future may look like.

Despite this uncertainty, Sammie remains a happy, loving dog. She gets along well with the resident dog in her foster home and continues to charm everyone she meets with her sweet personality.

Sammie is currently enjoying life in foster care while we learn more about her medical needs, and she is so grateful for the love and support surrounding her during this journey.
